About the Book
Honeysuckle is the bitter sweet story of little Bobby torn from his familiar surrounding with his brothers and carted off to live with a cruel stepfather in post World War II Mississippi. The entire household feels the weight of Big Jim’s oppressive hand, but no more than Bobby who is forced to endure the sting of his physical and psychological torment. Bobby finds the love of a childless black couple who nurture and guide him through his involuntary servitude. Honeysuckle is the tale of personal triumph of a boy who choose not to be hardened by his experiences but rather to learn and listen to those who teach and guide him; especially his guardian angel.
About the Author
Bob 63years young is married to Dolores for a short 35years and has two children and three grandchildren. He retired from San Diego Fire Department where he was a founding member of the Metro Arson Strike Team. He loves surfing, outrigger canoes, one and six man. He spends his free time in Kauai with his friend Steve Baker. Works in progress are the Golden Cowrie a children’s fantasy environmental action story. M.A.S.T. a story of arson cases based on actual fires soon to be published. In his spare time he builds koa guitars and cabinets for friends.
