The Los Angeles Times  reporter has eerily captured Wolf’s character traits, the ones Margaret remembers too well. She pictures the man who wanted to be in control, to be seen as the one who had all the answers, the man who was unable to admit any weakness or failing. And that vision brings forth emotions Margaret thought she had buried a long time ago. Memories of the way Wolf callously altered her life, and that of her daughter’s, come easily. Upon hearing that now his life is being turned upside down, Margaret admits she is pleased he is in trouble. Wolf, the man she once called lover, then husband, had a disposable approach to problems. And ten years ago, she was the problem.

Margaret knows that judgment based on painful memories and a newspaper story is not fair, but she can’t help it. Feelings she has apparently been harboring for years take over, and her spirit plummets down into a dark familiar place. She wants out. Pulling an old box down from the shelf in her garage, she is amazed to find it contains her journals, notes, photos, and legal papers—all tangible reminders of her years with Wolf. Two keys, the very ones that unlocked his devastating secret years ago, are grabbed from the bottom of the box. Margaret holds them up in the light, mesmerized by the way they shine almost as brightly as the day they were made. You had no right! She quickly glances around, because the memory of Wolf’s voice is so imposing, it seems as if he is right there. She shudders, and unwilling to have her heart held hostage any longer, Margaret realizes the time for personal resolution has come at last.

If you are looking for a tabloid-style expose, this is not the book for you. The Man Who Brought Me Roses is a sensitive account of three people--a man, woman, and child--beginning and ending their life together. That the man revealed within its pages seems less than admirable is not an attempt to destroy, but to heal. The author is the first to admit that opinions she expresses about Wolf are based in the past, from her experience with him, and have no bearing on what his character may be like today.

But for any woman who has ever been blinded by love, this is the book for you. For in it, you may recognize a little bit of yourself and how, by welcoming certain memories, time can heal all wounds.

About the Author

Margaret was raised with her two brothers in Balboa, California. As a single parent, she worked in medical/legal administration before starting her own business as an independent contractor. She relocated with her daughter to the Pacific Northwest, where she returned to school and received her credentials in the field of Occupational Therapy. In her spare time, Margaret enjoys sharing life with her family, especially her young grandson.
