About the Book
Johnny ‘Lightning’ Thomas lives with his family in Edgeware, a small and friendly community. He loves helping his parents with the animal and selling their farm produce in the market. He loves spending time with his family as they made him feel loved and secure. More than anything, he would love to do something to improve the lives of his mother and father. Johnny is however plagued by the challenge of overcoming constant teasing about his long legs and the ‘special lunches’ he brought to school in his brown paper bag. But how can he turn these two challenges into something positive which would dramatically bring change to the life of his family?
About the Author
Roxann Whittingham was born in Jamaica. She has been writing since she was in high school. Her love for writing books for children and teens was developed during her teaching career. The motivation for this book specifically though, originated as a result of the pride she felt when the Jamaican athletic team performed in the 2008 Olympics held in Beijing China, with such excellence. It was a proud moment for all Jamaicans, as a nation was inspired, especially by the brilliance of Usain Bolt. Roxann is a trained school teacher, song writer, singer, and author. She has written two other books, ‘Seasons of Love’ (poetry) and ‘Whom the Son Sets Free’ (religious).
