About the Author

David J. Coynik, MD, practices dermatology in Chicago and in downstate Peru, Illinois. He serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the University of Illinois at Chicago, the school where he received his M.D. degree and where he did his residency. Acne and the problems it causes for people has always been of special interest to Dr. Coynik. Cooking, skiing, cinema, and travel join with practicing dermatology and performing skin surgery as things that Dr. Coynik enjoys. Dr. Coynik holds a BA from John Carroll University in Cleveland, Ohio, and a Master's degree from Northwestern Univeristy, Evanston, Illinois. He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Chicago Dermatological Society, the Illinois State Dermatological Society, the American Medical Association, and the Chicago Medical Society. Lecturing to family doctors about skin disease is also a favorite pastime for Dr. Coynik, and he has taught other physicians about dermatology in many places, including Havana, Cuba.
