About the Book
Fall had arrived on Long Island and the resort Town of Monteague was relaxing
after the flow of tourists that poured in each year. Its beaches were empty
of the hordes of sunbathers and you could actually get a parking spot in
Town! Everyone breathed a sigh of relief that Summer was over and things were
back to a sense of normalcy.
Then, late one night, a group of teenagers, having a weiner roast by the
ocean, discovered that they were being watched by someone, or something.
Upon investigation they realized that a pack of vicious dogs were stalking
them. They attacked and one big Doberman mauled and maimed one of the boys
while his friends watched in hopeless horror.
This was only the beginning. Monteague was in the process of choosing a new
Town Supervisor. Diana Wentworth, who was born in Monteague, was the current
Supervisor and had been for the last four years. But she was being
challenged by Ken Murdock, a local real estate broker. The issue of imposing
a leash law in the Town was at the center of this election. Diana was
against it and Murdock was for it.
When another of Monteague's residents had succumbed to the brutality of the
killer pack of dogs, the event fueled the flames of the leash law issue.
Before October was over, the Town of Monteague would be swept by fear…and
drenched in blood!
