About the Book

    QUEEN AMONG MONKEYS is a book that brings together a cast of colorful characters living in, and around, a small resort town in Northwest Arkansas.

EDNA is an aging alcoholic who feels she could have been a contender in life.  She thrives on the attention of men and shows little regard for others. Love for her father sets the course of her life.

JOE BILL is a Vietnam vet. He moves from Kansas and corn to Arkansas and marijuana. His best friend, Alfano, opens the way for new surroundings.

TRACY is a fun loving woman with an addiction to tranquilizers.  Three children and three husbands later, she settles into the hills of Arkansas.

SIMON is an insurance salesman and a local pillar of the community.  He was a devoted son and a southern gentleman.  A gay man, who falls for a straight man, he suffers the consequences.

    Our characters interact with the locals:  ERICA travels from Germany to Kansas to give birth to her first child.  DAVIE is a florist who is tricked to the altar. ALFANO is a good Catholic boy turned mobster.  EUGENE is a roughneck who finds living with Tracy a challenge.  MIKE is an exotic dancer. TIM presents Edna with a home and a baby.  RAYMOND takes Tracy down a path of true rustic living.  DANA is Edna’s daughter, who hopes for a relationship with her mother. JULIE is a sexy young woman with a big secret.  DIANE is Tracy’s daughter; she loves the boy next door and motherhood.  STEVE runs a successful drug operation and gives Tracy a bed while his true love is on the run. DOYLE drives a truck and comes home to Edna on the weekends.  UNCLE MURPHY brings his money and his desires to Arkansas
