About the Book

Marla Douglas confronts Brad Merlin, a tall, disheveled, man in messy worn jeans, who has come to her UNISEX hair styling shop for an after hours haircut. Brad, a widower and architectural engineer, is in Royal Lake to build a shopping mall. Marla, mother of two, has been wary of men since her husband, Hank, left her three years earlier. Brad and his young daughter become friends with Marla’s family. He and Marla refuse to acknowledge the erotic pull electrifying the air when they are together. Their personal histories, their children and their demanding jobs combine to keep them from succumbing to romance until circumstances push them into each other’s arms. Then they must face and solve a parade of problems before they can unite their two families.

About the Author

Dr. Betty O. Carpenter has had a distinguished career as an educator, culminated by ten years of service as a superintendent of schools. Since her retirement she has pursued her interests in painting, sculpture, golf, duplicate bridge, tournament scrabble, computers and writing. Her published work includes: MUSINGS; A CURRICULUM HANDBOOK FOR PARENTS AND TEACHERS; TUTORING FOR PAY; THE BROSH; LADY OF THE LAKE; INHERIT THE RAINBOW; ART AND CRAFTINESS; and CRYSTAL SLOPES.
