About the Book
Charlie’s Trophy: Home on emergency leave from the Korean War in the fall of 1952 Thomas Hope drives beer-joint owner Johnny Go Away to the VA Hospital for his biannual drying out. Johnny reveals the role played by Hope’s father, Charlie, in the bizarre execution of an circus elephant in 1929.
Jack’s Moustache: Flashbacks to the Korean War emanate from the back booth at Johnny’s Place as Thomas Hope watches the events unfold in Panmunjom during the POW exchange. His friend Jack Kitch, listed as MIA, surfaces as one of the twenty-four American POW’s that refuse re-patriation and are labeled turncoats.
About the Author
William Colville was born in 1928. He lives in Red Rock, Texas with his wife Michelle, two dogs, one cat and a groatsworth of wit bought with a million of repentance. He labors still at his original commission: What is it that the mind sends the body for? What is it that the body begs the mind to know?
