About the Book

The word FATE is often invoked when something improbable happens to an individual. But in reality very few will admit they meant the remark to be taken seriously and that they really believe a person’s life is preordained. Yet, how to explain why a tree branch would fall just at the instant when someone is passing beneath it, killing him or her? Why did it not miss by an inch? Was that person fated to live only so many years and no more? The answers to these questions is what this book explores by examining the fate of members of the fictional Keys dynasty. It may seem like an impossible task to define the cause and consequence of fate, but this is a novel and not a philosophical treatise. Because nothing is impossible in such a venue, the answer in the case of the inheritors of the Keys mantle is discovered to be the reawakening of the Olympian gods of ancient Greek mythology. Although of a higher order than the mortals (humans) below, when it served their purpose the gods interacted with them. Having supernatural powers the gods could arrange human events so that outcomes would fulfill their own needs and desires. The gods, in effect, determined the fate of those they took an interest in. Unfortunately for the Keys, they were not aware of the presence of the gods. They were even less mindful of the fact that at various times they presented a roadblock to goals the gods were striving for. They were made to pay a fearful price for their transgression. The entire world gasped at the fate of various members of the family. Is the book intended to seriously claim a role for the Greek gods in the destiny of mankind? No, of course not. So be of good cheer, the narrative is nowhere as gloomy as the fate of the Keys would suggest. As a matter of fact, the fumbling antics of the ancient gods when faced with the realities of the modern world should bring forth a smile or even a belly laugh. It is they, rather than the Keys who play the major role herein. Be also aware that places, events and names have actual parallels in the history of the 20th century. In order to emphasize that this is a work of fiction, not fact, the names and events have been scrambled to inject humor. Likewise, the people portrayed are merely hand puppets manipulated from within by the author to satisfy the story line. No attempt should be made to equate them to actual persons, living or dead. The Keys Revelation, thus, can best be described as a melange: part history, part mythology, and part humor. Enjoy!

About the Author

Al Beruttiā€™s interests are as wide ranging as his working experience: from aircraft mechanic, to electrical engineer, and finally to magazine editor. Although the last provided an opportunity to write and edit on a full time basis, it was the love of history, philosophy, politics, science, mythology, travel and other subjects that had early on served (and continues to serve) as reasons to put pen to paper. Many in this array of topics have been drawn upon by the author to produce a serio-comic novel of fate and the forces that have shaped the destiny of the Clan Keys.
