About the Book

About the Author

Gwinn Owens found his life's direction changed completely when, in his youth, he made an unschduled, unplanned visit to Greece. To his surprise, that chance visit became a profound spiritual experience. After surviving an ill-fated attraction to a comely Greek girl, he nonetheless has returned year after year. Meanwhile, as a journalist for the Baltimore Sun and the Providence Journal, he has written extensively on modern Greece, finding friends among the political leaders and the stars of Greek arts and letters. With his wife, Joan, a co-enthusiast, he has explored the counry, from Athens and its fabulous Parthenon to Greece's craggy mountains, to the enchanting islands of the Aegean Sea. From these adventures, this novel emerges. He is author of one earlier novel, "Caprenter's Heaven," and co-author of two non-fiction books, "Entergy and Conflict." a biography of H-bomb physicist Edward Teler, and "The Survival Factor," a history of the amazing intelligence services of Israel. Gwin and Joan Owens, parents of four and grand parents of six, live in Ruxton, Maryland. DESIGN CREDIT: Cover design and photo (the Parthenon columns in early morning light) by the author.
