About the Book
Winter Fun is one book in the SENIOR STORIES™ series of color photography books with simple text designed to stimulate conversation and interaction between seniors with Alzheimer’s and their caregivers. The readers will take a visual trip outdoors in the snow to see snowmen, childred sledding, people ice skating, a woman making a snow angel, and much more. The text invites the senior readers to tell what they like about winter—which kind of skiing they might prefer, who might go sledding with them, what kind of soup they´d have to warm up at the end of the day…Seniors might tell their own wintertime memories, or tell a new story about a photo, or just enjoy looking at the images!
Jed Levine, Executive Vice President of the New York City Chapter of the Alzheimer´s Association, writes,"Winter Fun is a book that can be shared by two people or enjoyed alone. For a person with dementia, these evocative pictures may momentarily jog a memory like the sight of snow-covered trees or the fun of riding on a sled, reawakening a lost experience. These images of life’s pleasures have the potential to stimulate conversation by rekindling warm feelings, which are captured in the pages of this special book."
The author hopes both seniors and caregivers enjoy sharing the winter scenes.
