About the Book

TO SEE AMONG THE BLIND

By Sioux Rose

Qunda, a bi-racial yoga instructor visits her blind, aging grandmother who is gifted with acute psychic sensitivity. The old woman relates her recurring dream. It centers on a major California earthquake. Not long after hearing her grandmother relate what turn out to be prophetic words Qunda finds herself jolted by “the big one.” Realizing there is no safe route to her grandmother’s home, Qunda follows her instincts and drives due east. She stops when her car runs out of gas in the Arizona desert. Drawn to a mysterious circle of stones, Qunda decides to rest there. Given the nature of the traumatic events that sent her east, she wonders if she’s lost her mind when she suddenly makes out the forms of translucent figures. They explain that they are guardian spirits of the land, ancient protectors. Further, they reveal that earth has begun a massive geologic cleansing cycle. And just as Noah was instructed to gather animals before the Great Flood, the protectors offer Qunda passage to a trans-dimensional community that serves as an interim colony. Designed as earth’s double, this habitable planetary twin is composed of a higher frequency of light and intended to merge back with the original planet at a later date. Qunda is encouraged to become part of the nascent colony. It’s further explained that her physiology is such that she’d serve as a natural crossover, one sent between dimensions to seek out new recruits. Once Qunda agrees her desert companions utilize sophisticated sound waves to transport her to the virtual new Eden. During her orientation phase at the colony Qunda bonds with a young mother and her son, Adam who is somewhat disenchanted with the new zone. Adam observes the way Qunda exits the colony to fulfill her varied reconnaissance missions. On one such venture Qunda meets up with a bereaved father and his daughter Evelyn, who’s nicknamed Eve for short. Before Qunda returns to the colony with Evelyn and her father, Adam manages to surreptitiously follow her back to earth. Landing in the Arizona desert he is visibly disoriented. He was not prepared for the return. In contrast Qunda has been equipped for these voyages with amazing tools. One accoutrement is a set of glass lenses that enables Qunda to read the hues emanating from peoples’ auras. By virtue of the colors expressing she is able to recognize those that might be ready for a change of earthly pace versus those that are not. Adam breached protocol and is now on his own. To protect the fragile new colony, visitors who elect to return to earth have their memories essentially expunged. Fortunately Adam does remember details from his life in Arizona prior to his transposition to the colony. As a result, he searches for a way out of the desert and sets his sights on his Grandfather, Theodore Hurtz’s office. Adam makes his way to a main road and has no choice but to hitch a ride. An old car with three shady teenagers stops; and when they learn that their passenger is headed to the impressive destination of Happy Chemical Corps, they determine their cargo is fit goods for a ransom. Hurtz, happens to be the very wealthy CEO of Happy Chemical Corp, and he’s already paid a prominent detective to pursue the whereabouts of his missing daughter and grandson. Ultimately Hurtz is relieved when the boy finds his way back to his office. However, when the teen ringleader asks for a reward, he has no idea what he’s come up against in the strict authoritarian persona of Theodore Hurtz! Noting the boy’s raw opportunism, Hurtz becomes convinced that his grandson was abducted by a kidnap ring (and fairly certain that his daughter remains in their captivity) based somewhere in the Arizona desert. Hurtz tells the teens that he has friends in high places and that unless they wish to be arrested there on the spot, they’d best be gone. The three teens do as told but for them the matter is neither over nor resolved. Hurtz makes every
