Integrating Music in the Elementary General Classroom by Diane Delaney is a book written for elementary classroom teachers to use as a guide to create lesson plans to integrate music in the general classroom curriculum. The lessons are designed to accompany the folk song collection, Bought Me a Cat, by Jill Trinka.
About the Author
Diane Delaney has completed a Ph.D. in Music Education at Temple University, studying elementary general music teachers' reflections on instruction. As a teaching assistant at Temple University, she has presented the Orff-Schulwerk, Kodály, and Dalcroze approaches to undergraduate music education students. She has served as Assistant Professor of Music Education at West Chester University, teaching elementary music methods and an integrated arts course for classroom teachers. She has presented her work at PMEA, MENC Eastern Division and National Conferences, and at OAKE and AOSA National Conferences. Her book, Integrating Music in the Elementary General Classroom, has been designed for the course, MDA 240 Integrating the Arts within the Elementary Curriculum. As Ms. Diane, she has presented Musical Story Hours for children in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Maryland, and has published her first children’s book, Spooks in My Boots.
