About the Author

Jerry Barry has pursued a dual career as artist and educator. While working as a special education teacher in Brooklyn, New York, he became interested in issues involving children and families. There he explored the concept of using art as a magnet to encourage students to learn. It was during the course of explaining these paintings that Mr. Barry decided to begin writing this and other books. The author has a bachelor in Art Education from Illinois State University, a masters degree in Special Education from Long Island University, NY, and a Masters of Fine Arts from University of Hartford. He presently teaches art at the Mary Hooker Magnet school of Environmental Sciences in Hartford, Connecticut.
