About the Book
One rainy day, many years ago, my childhood friend, Lila, came to my house for a visit. We spent that afternoon sharing a ‘pot of tea’ as we chatted and laughed and reminisced. Upon her return home, Lila chronicled, in a poem, all that we had said and done that day, and to my fascination, I was amazed by her natural ability for writing. I loved the poem! On impulse, and stimulated by what I had just read, I telephoned Lila. I asked if she might enjoy collaborating with me on a story, an almost true account, of a white baby duck that lived near the pond by my house. If she would do the writing, I could attempt the illustrations and together we’d construct a children’s storybook which might amuse and also teach children appreciation for animals and creation through pictures and poetry. Lila agreed. And so after much hard work and not too few redoes, our book, “Little Louie’s Mirror” was born. We, two octogenarians, truly hope that all who read our whimsical storybook will be entertained by it and will find it to be as enjoyable to read as it was for us to create.
