About the Book

This book started as a journal of my thoughts and feelings each day, month, and year, beginning in 1967, and evolved into a poetical compilation of the more recent years, recognizing some pertinent events in my life and the world.

It serves as a purpose in my life for the education I’ve received along the way.

I hope you’ll receive this thoughtful insight with understanding in the light of the world.

To Ward 57

The call to arms is one of courage
To stave off the enemy, no need for verbiage
Always the ultimate sacrifice or broken bodies are so real
This gift of strength of purpose is for the common weal.

They were maimed and now they rest in wards
Awaiting prosthesis and the postulude from the tear of the sword
Healing continues for the rest of life
We are the beneficiaries of these remnants of war and strife.

So, as we pledge our allegiance to our flag so true
Remember the soldier who gave for the peace we accrue.

An Autumn Walk

The fall is a beginning, as summer has ended
When I walk on the pathways, I see gardens well tended
The acorns are dropping on pavements, lawns, and roofs
To remind us new growth is coming, it is to our behoof.

The white butterflies are fluttering at their lovely space
There is continuity to everything, as we endeavor to keep pace
The leaves have begun to color turn, as the sap begins to dry
This annual phenomenon is so vivid, we need not espy.

We all experience beginnings and endings, true.
But, this beginning for us, is especially for you.

Misty

The white peony petals are like satin to the touch
And sun rays give strength for them to grow as such
But, much needed in this spectrum are the puddles of dimpled rain
While misty, slate colored clouds touch verdant trees moistened as the same.

All in all, each thing has its season
Heightened or lessened because taxonomy is the reason.
