About the Author

The author was raised in the small town of Terry in Eastern Montana. After returning from four years in the U. S. Marine Corps in 1946 and while attending the University of Montana, the author was elected to the Montana State House of Representatives at the age of 24 representing the people of Prairie County, Montana. Following graduation from the University of Montana with a B.A. Degree, Double Major--History and Philosophy his career as a teacher was launched upon receiving a Masters Degree in Education from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. The last number of years have been spent raising Arab horses and offering quality antiques to the public following establishment of an antique store in Gilroy, California. Love of animals was instilled at an early age when his parents filled their home and barns with many kinds of creatures. Two important lessons were learned in the Ganson household. Animals were fed before the family sat down at the table---be it for breakfast or supper. All were to have shelter from the elements. In addition, all were to be treated kindly and with love. This was evidenced in many ways....the runt pig that played with the two brothers; the pet lamb that found its way into church one Sunday morning; the cat that insisted on riding on a shoulder while chores were being done; the family dog who found the family cat next door and carried it home in its mouth..
