About the Book

“Patrinkles Learns to Write a Sentence” is intended to help children learn some of the rules that are needed to become strong writers. This entertaining, humorous and educational story can be read over and over again. While children listen or read they internalize the proper way to write a sentence and when it comes time for them to start writing sentences on their own they will remember the correct way. This book can also be used as a learning tool for slightly older students who may participate in programs that read to younger students. During the reading process the older students gain re-enforcement of the concepts of writing a proper sentence without ever realizing that they are learning. This book will entertain and teach. Happy go-lucky Patrinkles thinks writing a sentence is as easy as saying a sentence. Patrinkles learns that she may not know as much as she thinks. On the way to school she talks with her friends and tells them that she already knows how to write sentences. She tells her friends, “I speak in sentences everyday. I already know how to write sentences.” As class starts she begins to realize that maybe Mrs. Hart does have something to teach her about writing sentences. Patrinkles finds out that she can make mistakes and that she needs to slow down. Patrinkles entertains her fellow classmates and does learn how to write a sentence. She shares her new knowledge with her favorite sidekick, her cat, Tubbles.
