Poetic story of a man no-one expected him to become President especially the white people. Although he has half-black genes, he worked and achieved.

I loved a man. He had black skin, His love was tender, serene.
From him I gave birth to my Son, My Love My real soulful genes.
His father called him Barack (the blessed).
I left in pain after blessing him,
Teaching . . . how to save innocents’ skin.

About the Author

Dr. Sylva Portoian is a Pediatrician of Armenian ancestry, trained in England. Started rhyming from age seven, discontinued writing {poeming} on entering medical school.

During year 2006 had time to rhyme poetry once again. She has written more than 400 poems in one year. [Lance my Hart at a Glance ; iUniverse Press: July2007] ; Delete Depression type Inspiration; Lilit lilting via Internet ;A Soul Shined from Genocide; My Son take my Hart& Transplant ; Millennium; Life Plunge to Surge; Smiles create Lives . . . etc.

She has written medical articles in well-known journals {1984-1987}: Lancet, Archives of Diseases in Childhood, Tropical Pediatrics, Annals of Genetics [Paris], Inherited Metabolic Diseases and the Journal of Cardio-Vascular Surgery. Also many articles on: Health Education in the local newspapers about: Asthma; Vaccination; Diarrhea; Cerebral Palsy and how to care for handicap children.

Sylva Portoian is the Carnegie Spring 2009 Poetry Contest Winner.

In addition, she presented medical papers in international conferences.
