About the Book
The time period of this story is the 1950s to the 1970s when the all white Chicago neighborhood of Gage Park is embroiled in racial conflict with the nearby African-American community. It is a time when Mike and Jim have to deal with the possibility of being drafted into the army while the Vietnam War is raging. About the Author
Bill Shunas was born, raised, and spent several adult years in the Gage Park. He is an army veteran and had a career with the U.S. Postal Service. He has one previously published book, Wilson and Jernigan, published in 1993. He spent twenty years as the editor of his local union newsletter and is a contributor to The Veteran, newspaper of Vietnam veterans against the war. He is now retired and lives in Chicago.
