About the Author

Betty Jean Bennett- Foster is the third of ten children. She was born in a small community, called El Wood, just outside of St. Augustine in St. Johns County. Being the middle child, she has pushed against all odds and completed high school. She had developed a love for reading and out of reading came writing. She has learned to cope with her struggles, trials, and failures through writing. More so, than ever her troubled marriage pushed her to discover the passion of poetry. Ms. Foster has expressed her love for the bible and her Christian faith throughout her work. One of her favorite biblical characters is David. She became fascinated with the Psalms, and David’s love of poetry. She became a Christian at the age of thirteen, strayed away in her adolescent years, but never gave up on her faith. During her struggles she would write and going through problems she would write. All of her Dreams and ambitions she would write it down. The first poem I remember her writing after a fight with a loved one was, “By the Grace of God I walk on.” Later, she wrote “I can’t let no devil walk over this Jesus in me.” Deciding to share her writing with family they encouraged her to keep writing, they liked her poetry! Years later she was in need of a vehicle so she sought out and found a van, she didn’t even have the down payment, but left with the vehicle. Her license plate was V.U.F, so being inspired by God she named her van Victory and her book Victory Unfolded.
