Most people love pets.

They are so much fun and are great companions and teachers in the journey called life. That
is why some parents would want their children to have a pet, to teach them about care and companionship, respect and responsibility.

Some families have cats or dogs-called man’s best friend for a reason. Others have more exotic ones, like little critters or reptiles.

But can a little girl really own a humongous pet like, say, a killer whale?!?

In author Jon Ocee's new children’s picture book, meet young Tania who falls asleep on her surfboard and drifts out into the vast ocean. She encounters a killer whale and learns about respect, trust, and maybe even divine intervention. This story is told as a rhythmic poem that is fun to read and easy to remember.

NAME: Cary Gregory BORN: 1960 St. Louis, MO EDUCATION: BS degree in Mass Communications Southeast MO State University, Cape Girardeau, MO PRESENT RESIDENCE: MO HOBBIES: skiing, playing guitar, writing songs and literary works, reading, hiking FAVORITE GAMES: Monopoly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, online poker, and Chess Cary’s published works include “Kibbles and Bitts” and “Tania and Her Pet Whale”, a children’s book dedicated to the memory of his daughter, Kellie, under his pen name Jon Ocee. Cary began writing at age eight while helping on a Christmas play for his local church. He continued to write songs, poetry, and short stories throughout his high school years; where inspiring poems were sometimes used to complete homework assignments. “I actually had no intention of ever selling anything...maybe a song someday.” An early career as a radio DJ and concentrated studies in Mass Communications and Journalism enhanced writing skills. “Inspiration can come from a simple thought or a phrase said a certain way by a friend to awaken the muse. And for over 27 years, Kellie, inspired me the most. She was always my favorite critic.” He continues to write on his novel trilogies “One Shot,” and “Testing Love: The 6-Hour X-periments,” and various screenplays, poems, and songs. Using his nom de plume Greg Newman, his songs include “Never Gettin’ Over Me,” and “Guillotine.” With Jon Ocee, he continues in the pre-teen bracket with “Marty McAnt,” and the “Tania” series with “Tania’s Christmas Wish,” and “Tania’s Next Big Adventure.”
