About the Book

If You Had Only Asked, is a character lesson, appropriate for children preschool age to early elementary age. It is a story of three bunnies who want to have a taste of their mom's pie she has baked, but learn a lesson the hard way, that they should of asked her for a taste first. They are fun, loving bunnies who learn it is always best to ask your mom for permission!

About the Author

Lela Mae Rogers Bean was born in 1918, in Socapatoy, Alabama. She was raised with 4 sisters and 2 brothers on a farm in rural Alabama. In 1942, she married William Raymond Bean, on a three-day pass during World War II. They were married almost 47 years until his sudden death in 1989, and they raised 4 boys and 1 daughter. Grandma Lela always had a dream to write a children’s book, and in 1991 she wrote this precious story. She was a grandmother to 3 grandsons and 3 granddaughters at the time (later she would have 2 more granddaughters). This story is a lot like her, she always had fun, laughed at herself, but wanted to be sure her children did the right thing, Lela loved the Lord, and lived her life for Him. In my eyes she was perfect. Lela Mae, as Bill liked to call her, was not only a loving mom, but also a wonderful mother-in-law. She gave this manuscript to me in 1992 and I promised her, one day I would get it published. Now 20 years later, this dream of hers is complete. Lela passed away in 2004 from Alzheimer’s disease. She smiled and was gracious until the very end. We still miss her everyday, but I was so blessed to know her and learn from her.
