Kyri Demby, author, is a native Floridian, born and raised in Crestview, Fl. He is the middle child of seven children born to Linda Brown. Kyri began directing and playing for church choirs at the age of thirteen and was given the opportunity to perform with the famed Bethune-Cookman College Concert Chorale under the direction of Dr. Rebecca Steele, performing for and with such names as Ray Charles, Richard Smallwood, Moses Hogan, Glenn Burleigh, Max Roach, and Bill Cosby. Kyri received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education as well as Sacred Music. Kyri has also received a Master of Education Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida. “Each one must reach one (or two or three)!” is Demby’s belief about teaching and community service. He is a mentor to many students as well as other professionals whom he offers a great deal of support. Kyri has written and published several educational books including: Lori Biscuit - the Musical Detective series, The Inspiration of a Nation, and several Educational resources. Kimberly James, illustrator, was born on April 18, 1974 in Sarasota, FL. She is a fraternal twin and the oldest of seven children. As a child she faced inequities and inadequacies but still managed to help her mother support the family. Kimberly was a child who enjoyed going to school and was determined to please her mother by staying on the honor roll. It was in high school where she developed a love for sports and art—all forms. She would often go outside at night and paint or draw the moon and clouds. She went to college to major in business, after a semester she realized a business degree would be nice but her calling was to teach her favorite subjects, English and Mathematics. Today she is the proud parent of a son and she works closely in the education field while she continues her quest to finish her degree in Education.
