About the Book

This memoir was written to help tell the story of Dr. Jane Abucha, DNP, as a mother, professional nurse, and human being with ambitions and big dreams. For Jane, a dream is a dream, and it doesn’t matter how long it takes you. Just be focused and remain persistent on it until you reach your goal. The book also tells the untold stories of many others who live under these same conditions as refugees in South Sudan and who also go through the challenges of life in the United States of America (USA). It further outlines office politics that working parents face in the nursing profession, which can hinder the ability of one to provide for their children and care for them. This memoir highlights many of the experiences of Jane in her life in more than three countries. Some of these experiences are good, and some are bad. Though there are two sides to a coin and most other things such as two hands, legs, eyes, and nostrils, the best can be made possible out of life. Dr. Jane Abucha chose to live her life with the best and never to forget about the others who are unfortunate. She also chose to write about them to help others understand that, with all the challenges and problems in life, life is still possible, and you can still prevail. “Aulogo kumba ulu lelegasi” is the saying in Ma’di language.

About the Author

The author of this memoir Dr. Jane Abucha, DNP, ACNP-BC, was born and raised in South Sudan from a small tribe called Ma’di in the village of Loa. She is a professional nurse, teacher, and professor, and she is very ambitious. She is a talented lady who has successfully overcome her trials and temptations in life as a human being. She comes from the war-torn country of South Sudan and came to the United States of America (USA) as a refugee from Egypt. She has lived in the USA for thirteen years and lived in Sudan and Egypt prior to coming to the United States to realize her dreams. Dr. Abucha received her master’s in nursing with specialty as an acute care nurse practitioner from the Grand Canyon University in Phoenix and a doctorate from Maryville University in St. Louis. Dr. Abucha is a single mother who has struggled to live the American dream and raise her children in the USA instead of her war-torn country of South Sudan. Dr. Abucha is the owner of Teach & Care LLC and practices as a health-care provider in the state of Arizona. Her passions are to care and serve, and she has developed a successful project in Loa, South Sudan, to serve the Ma’di community and the neighboring villages in health care and education.
