About the Book

Empress in the Wrinkle of Time takes the reader to exotic places, interacts with fascinating creatures in beautiful, exotic settings, and confronts interesting monsters, just like any other science fiction story will do.  However, in my novel, there are also elements of modern genres such as love on an epic scale, and a totally unexpected view of Earth.

“What if,” as scientists have speculated for years, “Everything that we send out across the air waves—the movies, radio shows, television, news reports—all remain intact, exactly the way they were sent?  And what if someone on the other side of the galaxy intercepted those transmissions?  What would be our message to those strangers?”  This is the pretext of this novel.  From there, the story goes on to speculate what might happen if someone from the future knew that the end of their own civilization was fast approaching, and tried to change history.  What effect would this kind of historical influence have on someone who possessed certain talents, such as telepathy?

Knight King Chehada K-braxa is a man possessed of great power and abilities, but not without conscience.  He is confronted with a dilemma unlike any other in his illustrious career when he captures an alien spy of unequaled talents and beauty.  When she tells him of a coming invasion that could mean the destruction of his kingdom, he must make a decision that could decide the fate of everyone—human and otherwise—in his Union.  The alien woman, Tai’sonn, from the hidden planet of K’OrSachea has arrived from the future with an ominous mission: To stop ‘Chehada’s War,’ which, in her time line, was started by Knight King Chehada himself.  It will kill so many that the survivors will not be able to hold off a coming invasion.  Tai’sonn has seen this invasion, both on the news from Earth, and in an attack on her own home world.  The marauding Tregasa, who destroyed the planet Earth centuries earlier, are coming and they know nothing of mercy.

But, strangely, the Knight King of Tai’sonn’s own history is not the same as the man with whom she is now confronted.  Having come with the mission to kill the Knight King and therefore save enough people and resources to fight the Tregasa, she must now endeavor to understand the enigma of a different king—a wise, charismatic ruler with the power to seduce her.  Together they must find a way to work together to decide the fate of the Union of the Known Civilizations.  When they do come together, it is with a love strong enough to save worlds.

What are the ethical consequences of time travel, if it is possible at all?  How do we deal with theories concerning artificial intelligence?  What constitutes right and wrong in the rich tapestry that makes up any given society?  Bravery and loyalty, cowardice and deceit: they all exist, but do they always look the same?  These are the answers that Tai’sonn and Chehada must find.
