About the Book
Anna Martinez is the Lenny Bruce of Poetry, a splendidly unique voice. This collection of poetry can be sipped like fine wine or guzzled down in one sitting. Either way, you´re in for one helluva ride. Grounded in the senses, you can see, taste and smell the poems. Her approach to her uncomfortable subject matter is both lyrical and profane. She has a genius for powerful punch lines and black eyes. This collection of poetry, terribly human, is powerfully forthright, yet funny, gut-wrenching and heroic, with irreverence, shock value & defiance throughout. Her exposé of a battered inner being is deeply touching.
About the Author
Anna Martinez says that dreams, rather than events, are the landmarks of her life. She lives in Deadwood, South Dakota. She describes herself as a defiant Ophelia who went nuts and discovered her inner bitch, when suicide no longer was an option. Writing poetry is her grand compulsion; non sequiturs are her passion. Like all poets and artists, she's marvelous to have around, until she mounts her high horse and rides away. About the Illustrator Rebecca Mulvaney was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Ohio University. Much of Mulvaney's work explores the emotional impact of landscape, especially the powerful and haunting beauty of the prairies. Images in “Notes from the Bad Lands” are from her “Steadfast” series that depicts an abandoned homestead in South Dakota. She currently lives in Aberdeen, South Dakota, with her husband, Phil.
