About the Book
DOVE ON A HIGHWIRE includes 3 collections of poetry. TEMPLE OF THE WOODS deals with death, the grief process and the search for spirituality. TIGHTROPE IN THE SKY addresses many issues including war, poverty and abuse. It is written with colorful language and skill. VICTORY GARDEN portrays the simple life style of Ann’s paternal grandmother during World War II (a grandmother earth collection). The dove appears in all three collections which ties the book together.
About the Author
Ann Carlson lives in Lansing, Michigan, attended Lansing Community College, Michigan State University, and the University of Iowa. Her poetry has won several awards, and she has published two chapbooks (Plowman Press), THE MURHOOING SANDS, and NUGGETS IN CHAMPAGNE. With a grant from THE MICHIGAN COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS, she edited an anthology titled: THE LANSING POETRY CLUB. In 2000, she edited a hard-bound anthology for the Poetry Society of Michigan titled: SING THEN I MUST. Ann is married, has 3 sons and 4 grandchildren.
