About the Book

A Light in the Window begins with Sarah Banks Keller returning to her family’s home in Savannah, Georgia in the early 1970’s to visit her dying father, a man she hasn’t seen in nearly four years. Having run away to marry a man her father didn’t approve of, Sarah must face the horrors of her past that she has been trying to escape her entire life. Family secrets and betrayals are at the heart of Sarah’s homecoming. She must try to forgive her father before his pending demise or she is bound to harbor the hatred that has been consuming her since the day she left home, leaving everything behind and never looking back. A Light in the Window addresses the relationships between fathers, daughters and sisters as they grow up in a motherless household in a turbulent era of American history.

About the Author

J. Elizabeth Harris is a music teacher in New York where she lives with her husband and two young sons. Begun when she was nineteen years old, A Light in the Window is her literary debut.
