About the Book

     This is an adult mainstream novel of 42,000 words. It consist of sex, violence, and romance, that takes place in the late 1800’s in the Green River hills of Kentucky, the sight of some major battles of the Civil War. A troubled youth, Lenny Baker, is taken in by Mrs.Wright to live with her and her son, Ronnie Lee.  Lenny soon learns of a relative they have, Lou Barnett, who lives in Kentucky. Ronnie Lee tells of his Uncle Barnett living on a rocky farm in the hills and having a lot of money. The law gets too close on Lenny´s trail in Gary and he decides to go to Kentucky. Having little trouble finding the Barnett farm, Lenny uses the name of Lou’s nephew, Ronnie Lee. Lou hadn’t seen his nephew for years. Ronnie Lee decides to stay there. While he is there a young boy’s body  is found washed up on the bank of the river. Ronnie Lee quickly goes back to Gary. He’s there a short time when he is scared by the law again, looking for a killer, and he goes back to live with Uncle Lou Barnett. Ronnie Lee,a handsome young man, has no trouble attracting the young country girls. Before long Lou Barnett disappears, and so does the Sheriff. A short time later Ronnie Lee gets a local girl with child and threathens to kill her if she names him as the father. Scared, she names another boy as the father and he is forced to marry her. Having Lou Barnett´s money now and afraid that he will be found out, Ronnie Lee, with his warped mind thinks that the young girl has told about the baby and he catches her in the yard hanging out her wash and kills her. He courts Regina Moss and after another boy is found drown in the river, he ask the girl to leave with him. Regina refuses at first and then he talks her into going. A snow storm moves in and he blurts out about the murders and she is terrified, but he won´t let her go back. Two of the bodies are found in his barn and then the farmers, with the Deputy Sheriff´s help, take up arms and give chase. Ronnie Lee is armed and gets cornered on the Green River bridge. He gives them a choice. Let him go free or he will kill Regina.        


About the Author

The author writes about locales, and things that he has seen and done. He was born and raised in the Kentucky Hill Country spending most of his time in the woods and on river banks. A lot of the communities and places in his novels are real. The story and characters are not. This is the author’s sixth after A Foot Above Hell, Don’t Look Back, If The River Could Talk, A Life Of Dreams, and A Dream Of Terror . Bob Close and his wife live in Texas.
