I Will Bring You Back: The Story of Jacob, His Sons, and His God tells the story of how Jacob, husband of four women, only one of which he loved, became the father of twelve sons, only two of which he loved, and founded the nation of Israel. The book of Genesis, which tells Jacob’s story, does not minimize Jacob’s failings; he was a cheat and a liar and a hard bargainer whose trademark was the hasty departure to escape the consequences of his actions. Nor does Genesis minimize the failings of his sons, who sold their favored brother Joseph into slavery. Despite their many failings Jacob and his sons brought something new into the world: a new religion and a new promise that
“Even if you have been banished to the most distant land under the heavens, from there the Lord your God will gather you and bring you back.”

About the Author
Sue Sandidge is the author of I Will Bring You Back: The Story of Jacob, His Sons, and His God and Tell Joshua: The Wars of the Judges. She is currently working on a book called Forty Years in the Wilderness: Moses Leads the Bible’s Lost Generation. She is a graduate of Wellesley College and holds a M.A. from Tufts University in Child Study and a Ph. D. from the University of Minnesota in Educational Psychology. She lives in Shoreview, Minnesota.
