About the Book

Dragons, Wizards and Elves at one time were not legends at all but reality. Long ago in another place and time where magic not only existed but was actually woven throughout the world there existed a young priest. This selfless priest along with his new found friends would save not only the kingdom of Algoria but the entire world.
Nyal was still an apprentice to the priesthood but had heard bits and pieces of a growing evil that disturbed the elder priests. Nyal also knew if it was serious enough to have Burok call a meeting of the elder priests that it had to be severe in nature. Little did Nyal know that before his quest would be over he would see many of his fellow priests and friends die at the hand of an evil wizard. A wizard who was hellbent on gaining ultimate power. Nyal’s journey would take him far across the lands of Algoria where he would meet many adversaries and also make new lifelong friends. Friends who would stick by his side even if it meant their deaths.
A new covenant of evil had been slowly building over several hundred years. A cult of corrupted wizards and sorceresses who’s main goal was to gain control of an ancient artifact. The covenant believed that after they recovered the artifact it would allow them to open and control a gateway into the realm of demons and their kind. The evil cult concluded that with such a gateway open it would provide them with an unstoppable army. Little did the wizards know that at one time long ago the same portal had been opened allowing the uncontrollable flood of evil into their realm of reality. It was finally closed but only after the hate filled demons had almost totally destroyed man and elf alike. Various lesser demons hid themselves as the remainder of the men and elves searched them out to destroy what was left. The exhaustive hunts lasted for years but some gateway demons survived. The demonic spawn were such unholy and vile creatures that they mated with wild animals. This unholy mating created various new breeds of creatures such as goblins and trolls that plaque Algoria to this day.
The elven priest’s trial, if you could call it that lasted less than one hour before the death verdict was unanimously passed, and rightly so. The high elven council promptly executed the elven priest for high treason for opening the gateway without their permission. The Eye of the Dragon was deemed by the high council to be left behind by the gods since it was indestructible. The council decided to hide it away from elf and man alike for all eternity. The beautiful dark emerald green crystal was taken to the Great Volcano and thrown in with the hope that it would never be seen again.
A thousand years later the volcano erupted throwing the crystal miles away where it landed on a large boulder. It sat there for years as nature reclaimed the land from the volcano’s eruption. The wind and rain had cleaned the jewel of it’s volcanic covering. The Eye of the Dragon now glistened as it sat there absorbing the light. It did not take long for the jewel to be found by a pack of ogres who were hunting not far from their camp. The ogre king of that large tribe quickly claimed the gem for his own and had it incorporated into a scepter for himself. There it stayed, passed onto king after king of the ogres for several generations. Then one day, a lone wood elf who was far from home on his trial of inspirit saw the gem as he spied on the ogres. He intently watched the king raise his scepter at some ogre ritual and a sense of great danger flooded over him. The green gem was glowing and the elf somehow knew it was something of immense power. The young elf knew that he had to cut his trial of inspirit short so he could return to the elven city to report what he had found. The elders listened to the young elf but dismissed his finding as an overactive imagination. The arrogant elders then reprimanded the loyal elf on cutting his trial of inspirit off early. The elf
