About the Author

Mary Kennedy Simpson was the first of four daughters born to Dora Kenny Kennedy and Daniel Kennedy, who came to the United States from Ireland, and settled in Connecticut prior to their marriage. Before her arrival in America, Dora Kenny Kennedy was a nurse in Bristol Hospital, Bristol, England. Mary and her three sisters followed in their mothers footsteps. All adopted nursing as a career choice and continued in the profession until retirement. Mary, however, while still in high school, developed a love for poetry. She was particularly impressed with the work of Edgar Allan Poe, favoring his work: the Raven. While three of her sisters continued working in the medical/surgical field, Mary left this field of practice to begin working with psychiatric patients. She spent the last 20 years of her professional life working as a psychiatric nurse, and retired as a Psychiatric Nurse Clinical Specialists in 1990 after a CVA (stroke) caused partial paralysis of the right side of her body. Mary continues to write when the mood moves her. Right now, she’s looking at the manuscript of a novel half-finished and patiently waiting for her to complete it.
