About the Book

Most people do not know much if anything about the sleuths known as the “railroad police.” Every major railroad has them. They have been in existence since about 1850, but you never hear much about them. They are out there however, scouring the dirty, dusty yards of the railroads. Most people call us “railroad dicks.” Mickey did not know where the name got its start, but it has stuck throughout the years.

This book is founded on actual events.

It was written to show that no matter how
many dishonest people there are, there is always someone
who will step up—even if the odds are against them.
This book depicts a railroad police officer
and his family’s struggle against people of bad intent,
the laws of nature and just trying to do what’s right
when others are not.

We hope you enjoyed this humble offering of hope and despair.
