About the Book

Will and I moved to New Mexico in a dump truck. We set up a tent in the high mountain desert and lived the next three months with little to do. Our plans of building a rammed earth house could not be realized. The mountain was made of rock, not dirt; and the money we set aside in a stock had plummeted. We had a Coleman stove and a cooler - ice was 20 miles away. The following four years were spent in an 8-foot wide trailer experiencing everything from rattlesnakes to crazy neighbors to a beautiful straw bale house.

About the Author

Sarah Martin lives with her husband, Bud, and her two old dogs outside Atlanta Georgia; the rest of her family is "home" in New England. She is employed as a health scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the Physical Activity and Health Branch. Sarah has written numerous articles for professional journals; though this work represents her first crack at writing a book. True to her career, she still runs regularly and has even completed an ultra-marathon.
