Peter Jones and his cousin, Tracy, are gifted children who learn to travel through time and space. They go back four centuries to see Guy Fawkes arrested, before traveling two thousand years into the future where they find the climate has changed and life is hard – especially if you’re a moiler, lorded over by monitors and mentors. After coming home, Peter is hounded by Bill Metcalfe, who wants to become fabulously rich, and by HonMon Jones, who covets an intriguing family heirloom. Peter’s ambition is to land on Mars and – thanks to his special gift – he gets there.

About the Author

D.J. Piper was born in Hornchurch, England, in 1936 and wrote her first prize-winning essay, When I Grow Up, when she was eight. When she did grow up, she did not become a sister in a children’s home – her childhood choice – but combined a secretarial career with being a working mother until she was sixty. During that half-century, Dorothy submitted poems and stories to markets as diverse as Dancing and the BBC and started this, her one and only full-length novel, while working in London. She completed it in America after emigrating there in 1995.
