About the Book

Four generations of the Williams family farmed lands in Nash County, eastern North Carolina, that were inherited or bought from their relatives. The Petway family in neighbouring Wilson County developed a recreational and commercial complex near Wilson at Silver Lake in the early 1920s. This historical novel is a story about the parents of the author and how they met. Many of the happenings in the novel are drawn from actual events that occurred in both families.

About the Author

"Pete" Williams is a lifelong resident of Wilson, North Carolina, and a graduate of Atlantic Christian College, class of 1958.This book was conceived after realizing stories about his parents and their families were enough to form an historical novel. Many of the events actually occurred, but are embellished to fit the story Some characters are real while others are strictly fictional. This book is dedicated to my wife Sandra, daughter Jennifer, and in memory of deceased daughter Ruth. It is also in memory of my parents, Garland Williams who served on the Wilson Police Dept. for 33 years, and Ruby Petway Williams Joyner. who was born at Silver Lake while her family developed the complex there. I sincerely thank the Wilson County Genealogical Society for the many ideas gained from their historical records.
