About the Book

My child was murdered at four years old. His name was Christopher Joseph Rogers. The case is still unsolved, preventing me from going into specifics. My hands are not bound, however, on what this has done to me both spiritually and physically. The one common link between my spirit and my body is the grief I have experienced. In fact, I believe grief is the only thing holding my spirit and my body together; otherwise, I surely would have shattered a long time ago, in the beginning. Grief and the effects it has on every part of the mind, body, and soul are the reason and purpose of this book. I believe there is no right or wrong way to grieve. I also believe there is no time limit to grieving. Although it is commonly accepted, to grieve longer than one who has the flu or any other illness is to wallow in self-pity. I learned to pretend I was fine and was moving on. To make everyone pleased with me. This is the truth of my journey of grief.

About the Author

My name is Sunnie Rogers. I was born in Kentucky and moved to California when I was two years old. I’m married for thirty-eight years and have raised eight children and ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. It stands to reason that children are close to my heart; they are my heart. Religion is the better part of my life. A belief in God, and to have faith in that belief, sometimes is all we have to fall back on in times of tragedy and trials. Throughout the writing of this book, I no longer have tunnel vision. To forget yourself to help others can be hard, perhaps the hardest thing you’ll ever do.
