About the Book
In this volume, I have tried to offer an insight into New York City as Sri Chinmoy might have found it in 1964, and also the haven that he discovered in Woodstock. In addition, I have included transcripts of some evening gatherings at Sri Chinmoy’s home. They capture the delightful and unstructured ebb and flow of conversation, informal questions, personal guidance, reflections, and humorous asides. These were the moments when time itself seemed to stretch endlessly, punctuated only by the striking of a wall clock, the barking of Sri Chinmoy’s little dog or the mimicking calls of his mynah bird.
About the Author
Vidagdha Bennett is an Australian writer. A student of Sri Chinmoy’s since 1975, she undertook the pioneer study of his contemporary spiritual poetry for her PhD thesis at the University of Melbourne, now available on Kindle as Simplicity and Power: The Poetry of Sri Chinmoy 1971–1981. She has since gone on to write about aspects of the master’s childhood and youth in India, as well as his early years in New York. Vidagdha lives in Perth, Western Australia.
