About the Author Dr. Fayette B. Nick is an independent theoretical social scientist and national education consultant. She has served in a number of K-12 education leadership positions, including principal, chief academic officer, special education director, and interim superintendent. She holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Nick has been published in the areas of school board effectiveness, principal leadership, parental involvement, instructional improvement, building community participation in school systems, and school superintendent effectiveness. Her other books include Leadership: School Board Superintendent Principal and Involving Parents in the Common Core State Standards: Through a Family-School Partnership Program. Dr. Nick has served on advisory boards and panels in a number of school systems and made numerous presentations and conducted workshops nationwide on effective K-12 school leadership.
