Saturday was taking way too long to get here; I must have rehearsed over and over what that day would be like. What should I wear? Do I need a haircut? Will, she still be interested, or perhaps that night was a fluke. I was driving myself crazy, and finally, Saturday arrived like it was Christmas morning. I woke up extra early; I was so nervous, I think I brushed my teeth twice. So I was ready to meet for lunch, we had agreed on a simple place that we both were familiar with, so I got there at eleven thirty because I didn't want to be late and wanted to get the perfect seat. I must have checked my watch almost every five minutes, also checking my breath, trying to make sure my clothes were not wrinkled. I was trying hard not to be nervous, which made me even more nervous. Every time the little Christmas bell hanging over the cafe's door rang, I would pretend to be reading the menu, and then I would look up to act surprised and excited. Now it was after twelve, and I was beginning to get nervous. Every time the waitress returned to my table, I was a little more embarrassed because now I started thinking that she might have changed her mind. So now, when that bell would ring, my eyes would be looking to the door. There was no time to play games. Suddenly my joy was being overtaken by another emotion that I was too familiar with, and that was the emotion I felt when my father would promise to come to pick us up for the weekend. We would be sitting in the bay window, watching every car as it would pass by, hoping it was him. After sitting way past the time he promised to be there, we knew he wasn't coming when our mother would offer us some dessert to attempt to ease the pain of disappointment. Suddenly the Christmas bell rang again, and I looked up to what felt like the sun beaming on my face on a summer day. It was her; I jumped up, almost knocking my water over, all the preparation to be calm and collected had vanished. I opened up to share what I had been practicing all week to say, and all that came out was a high-pitched, "Hey you." Willie's head dropped as he started laughing, Dad, wow, I have never seen this side of you.

Ghetto Ghosts is a book about how life can be at times and how it can be faced and resolved. It is a "wisdom of life" filled book that teaches you how to best live life to its fullest - no matter your background or condition. A book packed with real-life lessons and not just myths or some fairy tale but a book like Ghetto Ghosts interweaves relationships, races, classes, culture, families, and history. It is the story of five people whose paths crossed at a point in time. Who appeared to be different, but yet very much the same. Ghetto Ghosts addresses more of the psychological and emotional effects of life rather than the physical. It is a story told by five high school students and their journey to a town named Goshen. The lives of each character would involve loss, remorse, and harsh realities of life. They discover that the secret to overcoming the Ghetto's purpose is the proper perspective of the situation with truth and self-introspection. Ghetto Ghosts tells how they developed the ability to move freely in limited space for a limited time before undergoing the re-imagination of their reality.
About the Author
MICHAEL .H. ODOM, whose passion and talent is helping people to recognize their limitless potential has been a life coach for 25 years. After 25 years of coaching, Michael had that ‘physician, heal thyself’ moment. He realized it was time to do and become.
