A cold chill ran down Anika’s back as she recognized the voice. She tried to turn around, but his grip tightened and prevented her from doing so. Please don’t let it be him, she thought to herself. Anika Washington had more than her fair share of bumps along the way. Being abandoned by her mom, mugged, and almost raped, Anika had the strength and support of her grandmother to overcome what curveballs life had thrown her way. Now Anika is living her best life, which includes hopefully meeting the man of her dreams. Kendrick Watts, who had a late start in life, is a college student just a few credits shy of graduating. Out of fate and obligation, the two meet and sparks immediately ignite between them. Anika believes he could possibly be the one until both of their pasts crash into the present.
