About the Book
Striving After Wind tells the story of how two mature people meet and develop an exceptionally close bond.
The progress of this relationship is complicated by several factors. The woman, Sara, is a minister in a small town who has just turned fifty. The man, Jim, is a writer who has just moved into town.
When they first meet, Sara has been separated for six months from her husband of seventeen years. She has two children, a pre-teen girl and a teenage boy. Jim has just finalized his own divorce.
Sara wrestles with her conflicting emotions of whether or not to finally initiate the divorce proceedings while dealing with her increasing affection for Jim. Their lives become ever more intertwined and difficult as Sara tries to balance her job as minister with questions of her children’s happiness and what she eventually wants for her own life.
As Sara struggles with her problems, the relationship with Jim is challenged and threatened again and again.
How the two characters are changed by these hard times and how they finally relate to one another forms the basis of this story.
