About the Book

A Look at James Dean and a Generation of Actors Who Imitated Him!

FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF HIS DEATH!

30+ PHOTOS

Different from idolatory books on James Dean, this new work examines the actor from interviews with those who knew and worked with him. Used by his directors ruthlessly, Dean´s revenge beyond the grave was upon the actors who played their lives and their roles in a mock parallel to the rebel without a cause. Among the actors who tried to imitate Dean and were called by tabloids, "the next James Dean," were Martin Sheen, Anthony Perkins, Dean Stockwell, Jack Nicholson, Paul Newman, Brandon deWilde, Dennis ,Hopper, Steve McQueen, Michael Parks, Christopher Jones, Troy Donahue, Michael Landon, Warren Beatty, Robert Blake, Stephen McHattie, James Franco, Sal Mineo, Rod Lauren, and even Elvis Presley!

THE NEXT JAMES DEAN is a hard-hitting and humorous look at the actors who tried to become Dean in his wake.

Between 1955 and 1975, dozens of young movie stars were hailed and predicted to take the place of James Dean, the rebel without a cause hero. Now, in the style of Confidential and Whisper, comes a book that blows the lid off the Dean clones and their ultimate fates. With savage humor the author traces their rise and fall, relying on the source of their fame and misfortune, the tabloids of the era, to document their fate! Who were called ‘The Next James Dean’? Tony Perkins, Dennis Hopper, Jack Nicholson, Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, and Elvis Presley, to name a few!
