About the Author

CONSUELO HERNÁNDEZ was born in Colombia, and lives in United States since 1987. She is the author of Voces de la soledad (1982), Solo de violín. Poemario para músicos y pintores (1997), Manual de peregrina (2003). She was finalist in the International Poetry Contest “Ciudad Melilla” in Spain; and “Concurso Letras de Oro,” University of Miami. Hernández has received a distinction from the Salvadorian Consulate in Long Island, New York for her poetry books, and was the first author in Spanish Language to be included in the Library’s Special Collection at American University. Consuelo Hernández is included in numerous anthologies and invited to poetry events by many Universities in United States and Latin America and by organizations such as: The International Poetry Festival in Medellin, The Library of Congress, the New York Public Library, the Fundación Pablo Neruda in Chile, the Instituto de Cooperación Iberoamericana in Spain, the Maratón de Poesía in Washington DC, the Festival Internacional de Poesía en El Salvador, and by United Nations “Dialogue Among Civilization Through Poetry”. Presently she is an Associate professor at American University in Washington DC.
