About the Book

Considering the Lilies is a tribute to women whose lives were difficult in the first half of the 20th Century. The women, "Lilies" throughout, are different but created equal by the God they sought. As He blessed them, He blessed their work: domestic chores, civic duties, and courageous acts in wartime. The lilies of the field, planted by God for their value to His world, were already dressed when they bloomed. He also sent good soil and rain for their sustenance, not to bless their "work," but for their contributions to His teachings.

About the Author

Carolyn Covington Robinson, native of Rockingham, NC, is a graduate of Meredith College in Raleigh, where she also found her career. Named the first director of publications in 1967, she also served as director of alumnae affairs for six years before returning to publications in 1976. She retired in 1992 as college editor and director of publications emeritus. In 1956 she was appointed Raleigh's community ambassador to the former Yugoslavia, where she lived in Sarajevo with a gracious native family, returning to Raleigh after a month in the area of the world once behind the Iron Curtain. The experiment prompted the Raleigh Times to name her one of Raleigh's 10 most outstanding young women. Meredith commissioned her to write The Vision Revisited, a History of Meredith College 1971-1998. Her other publications are histories of several churches, and her own memoir, My Menagerie, My Life.
