About the Book
This is the story of Zephali, a novitiate at the Essene Monastery by the Dead Sea, where he helps to copy ancient scripture onto scrolls that are then hidden in caves. Zephali is sent out of the monastery on a mission to the High Priest in Jerusalem. As he travels, he hears about Jesus, and vows to learn more about him. The people he meets on his journey, and the disastrous events that occur, change his life forever. This story paints a rich and vivid picture of 1st century daily life during a unique and historic time in Christian and Jewish history.
About the Author
Jane Renton Smith is a freelance writer and copy editor who has written two novels, a children's book, and many articles. She has three daughters and two grandchildren. Jane enjoys traveling with her twin sister, volunteers for Meals on Wheels, and is an avid bridge player and sometime gardener. She lives in Collegeville, PA, with her furry friend, Becky, a golden retriever.
