About the Book

Linguistic and Cultural Dimensions of Second Language Acquisition: A Venezuelan Case Study is a qualitative study of a group of U.S. college students learning Spanish in a language and culture immersion program in Mérida, Venezuela. This work focuses on the relationship between the linguisitic and cultural dimensions of second language learning in a partial immersion program. This book describes the nature and the dynamic of the second language learning process, and assesses the hypothesis that culture influences language learning.

Dr. Urdaneta´s work contributes to a better understanding of the second/foreign language learning process by articulating the complex interweaving and interactions that frame a second/foreign language learning experience abroad.
