About the Book

For seven years after meeting and a brief romance, Anita and Penry kept sporadically in touch: a Christmas card, a Valentine's Day card, and perhaps an occasional letter. Then, in the summer of 1939, came a letter with a proposal of marriage and a life in Africa! After a brief wartime reunion in England, Anita returned with Penry to Nigeria to experience colonial Africa, the expatriate way of life, and the admiration of the powerful Governor of Nigeria.
