About the Book

With Su Chou; another even younger victim, a Chinese girl fleeing a past as traumatic as his own, Mike undertakes an epic journey on a friend’s behalf that throws him into the treacherous white slavery trade of San Francisco, the hard-driving early days of the Santa Fe Railroad, and the tragic betrayal of the Indians of the early Oklahoma Territory. Mike reveals surprising talents and depth of character that enable him to survive in the rough-and-tumble frontiers he stumbles into. But as bad luck and tragedy escalate beyond coincidence, he begins to suspect that he can’t run away from his past, and he has to deal with a heritage that reaches out to claim him across oceans and continents.

About the Author

Ron Rowan is not cookie-cutter author. A high school dropout and a veteran, he went back and got a college degree making. Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities doing it. He hired on with a fortune “50” Corporation as a welder and ended up an executive of the company with stock options, bonuses and C.C. memberships on raw talent – he’s a LEO, of course. At 53, when he felt his health was being compromised, he walked away from the “Corporate Culture” and never looked back. He spent most of 1951 in Korea; marries his college sweetheart Neva, and still loves her deeply after 54 “short” years; has two wonderful kids, Rona (bon on his birthday) an Eng. Lit. teacher and Richard, an engineer; Go Penn State! Ron presently lives in the western-most mountains of Maryland, cranking out novels (8 so far) and thoroughly enjoys his lengthy retirement (?).
